The Trinary switch would be used if you are using an electric cooling fan as either a primary or secondary fan

The Trinary switch does 3 separate functions - protect the compressor from operating with either too low or too high hi side head pressure, the same as a Binary switch, along with the 3rd function of turning on the electric cooling fan to keep the pressure in the proper range.
