How To Build a Graphic Design Portfolio

November 13, 2014

As a designer, one of my favorite uses for FlowVella is none other than making a design portfolio! There aren’t a lot of options out there for designers to “plug and play” their content without creating a full website. FlowVella is a great solution to this problem; just grab your portfolio pieces from your favorite cloud sources, select a template, upload your images, then share it quickly to prospective clients!

With FlowVella, you can create a great looking portfolio in as little as 5 minutes, or spend hours on it. It just depends on how many screens you create and how much detail you put into it.

I thought I’d highlight some of my personal favorite templates today that make for a great starting base for any graphic design portfolio. In addition, I’ll be sharing a few tips and tricks for creating your own custom portfolio.

How to Build a Graphic Design Portfolio

To get started on your portfolio, upload your graphics to Dropbox, Box, or another of our supported cloud services. Select a template, then replace the template objects with graphics from your portfolio. You can then update each graphic’s associated text to more effectively tell your story.

If you’d like to make a custom portfolio, our FlowVella for Mac software is hard to beat. You get the added benefit of the precision of a mouse, XY controls to make your layout pixel perfect, and can also add custom shapes and set opacity. When you’re done, post your work to get your unique URL which can be shared with anyone, and will be viewable anywhere, on any device.
