Major Leaders in the Women's Rights Movement
Women's Rights Leaders
Many women contributed to the rights movement in the 1800s. One of them was Elizabeth Cady Stanton. Elizabeth was one of the founders, along with Lucretia Mott, of the first women's rights convention, the Seneca Falls Convention in NY in 1848. Another leader of the movement was Sojourner Truth. She was a black slave until she was 30 years old and then became an outspoken leader of the women's rights movement and specifically abolition.
