Temperate Deciduous Forest

Animals of the temperate deciduous rain forest

1. Fisher

2. Gray fox

Adaptations to live in the biome

1. The beaver has a slick thick coat that helps it swim faster and more elegant. This coat also helps the beaver dry off after a swim.

2. Coyotes have adapted thick fur to keep them warm in the winter. They have also adapted strong, long legs to help them run faster than their prey.

Temperate Deciduous Forest Plants

Temperate deciduous forests consist of many different types of trees. Some of the main ones are 1. Maple 2. Oak 3. burch. There are many different types of trees but these are the ones that come to mind when I think of a temperate deciduous forest

Plant adaptations

1. Some flowers grow before trees get leaves so they can get sun light before the leaves shade them from it

2. Unlike the rain forest the plants of the temperate deciduous forest absorb and keep water longer because there isn't as much precipitation.

5 interesting facts

1. 750-1500 mm of rain each year

2. The trees have more sap to prevent the roots from freezing

3. The leaves change color every year because they stop producing chlorophyll

4. Most insects of this forest are unable to survive the winters

5. Almost all animals of this forest use some form of Camouflage

How do we affect this environment?

One of the biggest affects we have on the temperate deciduous forest is our big factories. All of the chemicals are released into the atmosphere and when they are put back into the environment they affect the temperate deciduous forest. One of the most common forms of pollution that is released into these forests is acid rain.
