FlowVella 5.0 for iOS 11: Now Drag and Drop!

Today we’re thrilled to announce the all-new FlowVella 5.0, created with iOS 11 in mind and a huge improvement to FlowVella. With this launch, we are formally introducing our new drag and drop feature that speeds presentation creation and editing as well as the integration of Apple’s PDF Instant Markup. With Apple’s launch of iOS 11 for iPad, their goal was to make the iPad a better productivity tool with drag and drop, a dock and app switcher, the Files app and more. Update to FlowVella 5.0 for iPad and iPhone here.

FlowVella 5.0 integrates with these features to make presentation creating and editing on the iPad easier and faster than on a laptop. While the debate about whether the iPad can replace the laptop rages on, FlowVella worked with Apple to optimize the speed, experience, and ease of use of its presentation app for iPad, making the iPad the preferred tool.

When Apple announced and showed iOS 11 to developers in June, we recognized that this was a big monumental improvement to iOS and knew that this would make FlowVella even better. We immediately started to integrate these features into a new version of FlowVella and are proud to launch on the same day as iOS 11. For more about what’s new in FlowVella 5.0, read on.

About FlowVella’s New Drag and Drop Integration

FlowVella’s new drag and drop integration makes searching and adding content into your presentations easier and 10x faster than before. You can drag and drop photos, videos, PDFs, and even select and drag text into your presentations. PDF documents, agreements, and reports can be added, then viewed within a FlowVella presentation. The first page of the PDF is used as the preview image and is drawn instantly and automatically.

When grabbing images from the web, the source of the image is also added to your presentation, so attribution can be easily added or removed if not needed. We’ve had many requests for an easy way to add attribution in the past, especially in the classroom setting, and hope this is useful. If no attribution is needed, the link text can easily be deleted by tapping the trash can icon.

Introducing the Precision Joystick

FlowVella continues its commitment to being the leader in mobile-first presentation tools by adding innovative features on mobile first, as opposed to on the Mac or PC. Along with the new drag and drop integration, FlowVella added a new Precision Joystick which helps users create pixel perfect presentations. The Precision Joystick moves objects one pixel at a time, showing the location (x,y coordinates) to ensure objects are exactly where you want them placed.

Loads of Improvements and More To Come

With this launch, we have taken the time to make several small and big fixes to various features within the apps. One thing you will notice in the newest version is that all the controls in the iPad app now live on a left menu as opposed to menus on both sides of the app. I’m sure this will take some adjustment, but we found it necessary to make this change with the addition of drag and drop and the use of the right side of the screen. You may notice several other fixes within the app and we have more to come. We are redoubling our effort to improve the quality and experience throughout the app and you will see more refinements to come.
