The Ocean

In the story "Urashima Taro and the Princess of the Sea" the ocean is one of the biggest symbols in the story. One of the things the ocean symbolizes is life. This symbol is important because the story is all about life. The story has so many things tied to the ocean as a symbol of life. For example, Urishima Taro was a fisherman and so was his father. This is tied to his love of the ocean. At the end of the story Urishima Taro even dies by the ocean as he turns into an old man.
