-He was born September 6, 1766, in Eaglesfield, England to a Quaker family, and died July 26th, 1844 at 78.
-He had two surviving siblings.

-Dalton longed for an education, but his family was very poor.
-After attending a Quaker school in his village, when he was 12 he started teaching there.
-After 4 years he become principal of the school.
