Post hoc ergo propter hoc

Post hoc ergo propter hoc is Latin for "after this, therefore because of this" this basically says that because event y followed event x, then event y must have caused event x.

For example: I put on new batting gloves and then I hit a home run, therefore my gloves made me hit a home run.
