Why did they Fight? North and South

The Civil war was stated because federal invasion was feared by the South because Abraham Lincoln was elected. The South did not agree with Lincoln's ideas. They were for slavery and emancipation was opposed. Slaves are supposed to be treated as property and not people, "Said the South". They also said African Americans were to be segregated from the whites. They believed that African Americans should not be entitled with any natural rights and not to have the right of the pursuit of happiness, liberty, and life.Northerners in the free states could turn in the escaped slaves to the South. Southerners were feeling that the North were taking away the right of their government.
