Achaemenid
By: Lara Collins
The Achaemenid Empire (ca. 550-331 B.C.) represents a brief but glorious period in Persian art history, resplendent with official and private works of architecture, sculpture and wall painting. The Empire consisted of a multitude of different languages, races, religions and cultures. It was the largest empire the ancient world had known, stretched in three continents and twenty-five nations. The Persian Empire was also the first system of Federal Governments in the world! Persian respect for local traditions, laws, languages, and religions set the foundation of a relatively benevolent empire.
