* If another family member has it

* Had a head injury, especially if it involved your ear
* Had a viral infection of the inner ear
* Meniere's Disease can develop at any age, but it is more likely to happen to adults between 40 to 60 years of age
The exact number of people with MD is difficult to measure accurately because no official reporting system exists. Numbers used by researchers differ from one report to the next and from one country to the next. The National Institutes of Health estimates that about 615,000 people in the U.S have Meniere's and that 45,500 new cases re-diagnosed each year.
