Types of Titrations

1) Titrant can be added to the titrand until the reaction is judged complete. This us called a direct titration

2) Sometimes it is necessary to add an XS stand reagent to the titrand and the XS can be titrated with another standard solution. The amount reacted can be found by the difference. This type of titration may be required when the direct reaction is too slow or when Kc is small or when the analyte contained in the titrand is of limited solubility in the titration medium. This type of titration is called a Back Titration
