Wild Fires
1. Weather conditions can directly contribute to the occurrence of wildfires. Eg. Lightning
2. WildFires are uncontrolled fires. wildfires occur in wild, unpopulated areas, but they can occur anywhere.
3. They burn extremely hot, travel rapidly, and can change direction quickly.
4. running crown fires cause convection currents which produce massive fire storms and tornadoes.
5. refered to as surface fires, dependent crown fires, running crown fires, spot fires, and ground fires.
6. Wildfires can be caused by an accumulation of dead matter (leaves, twigs, and trees)
7. 10 to 20 percent of lightning strikes can cause a fire.
8. The number one reason for wildfires in the U.S. is man-made combustions from arson, human carelessness, or lack of fire safety cause wildfire disasters every year.
9. More than 80 percent of wildfires are started by humans.
