How to roll

Dice.

But first: why to roll dice

The dice game makes your challenges more, um, challenging, but it also gives you a chance to earn some other rewards. More on that later.

A sentence describing the project in simple terms.

Let’s break it down:

First, you roll the six-sided die. That roll means two things: 1. It is your multiplier 2. It determines which categories you roll the d20 for.

And then…

Next you roll the 20-sided die to decide your requirements.

If you rolled a 1, you choose from category 1.

If you rolled a 2, you choose from category 2.

If you rolled a 3, you choose from category 3.

If you rolled a 4, you choose from categories 1 AND 3

If you rolled a 2, you choose from categories 2 AND 3

If you rolled a 3, you choose from categories 1, 2, AND 3.

What does the d20 mean?

Each category has 20 options. The d20 roll chooses for you. Then you add those requirements to whatever challenge you’re working on. Let’s do an example.

First, I roll the d6 three times, and choose the best roll.

I choose five, , which means categories 2 and 3.

Now I roll the d20 three times for each category.

For category 2, I roll 7, 3, and 16. I choose 16, which is Visual Rhythm. I now have to use that technique in whatever challenge I’m doing.

For category 3, I roll 18, 9, and 2. I choose 9, which is Friendship. I now have to take pictures that show some aspect of friendship for my challenge.

What if I do?

Remember when I rolled a ? If I succeed in using visual rhythm and the theme of friendship, I get points worth 5X the value of my current challenge.

But these are no ordinary points.

For every 100 points I get this way, I earn a token. Once a week, the people with the most tokens get to decide our lab day shooting location. Once a month, the people with the most tokens get to choose a reward. And at the end of the class, there will be awards for the people with the most tokens. So let’s play!
