Independent clauses include a subject and a verb and express a complete thought. They have the ability to stand by themselves in a sentence. In a way, they are like brains for a zombie since zombies need brains.
Meanwhile, dependent clauses do include a subject and verb, they cannot stand by themselves in a sentence. These clauses do not express any complete thought and are like zombies because they rely on brains for survival just like dependent clauses rely on independent clauses to become a complete sentence.
