What were the causes of the Crimean War?
*Russia was expanding south into the Mediterranean which led to some interference with the Balkan provinces of the Ottoman Empire.
*Russia was trying to establish a unilateral protectorate over the weakening Ottoman Empire. Eventually this led to the conflict of the Crimean War.
*Great Britain and France feared that Russia was gaining too much power, so they declared war on Russia in 1854.
