Ombré, Sombre, Balayage, Foils

What does it all mean???

When we hear of all the different types of hair coloring options out there sometimes we ask ourselves......what does it all mean?

Well since the introduction of social media into the salon. Pinterest , Instagram , Twitter, Facebook just to mention a few. These media's are now part of our consultations.

Here are the differences....and why to choose one over the other...

Ombre hair color refers to hair color fading from dark to light, or vice versa. Instead of the color starting from the roots, it gradually becomes lighter, or darker, towards the ends. The word "ombre" in French means shadow or shade.

Sombre....is a softer lighter version of an Ombré technique. A Sombre hair color generally has more blending between base color and ends. A Sombre will also have lightened pieces that flow higher into base color.

Balayage ....Balayage is a hair coloring technique designed to create very natural-looking highlights that grow out without developing a noticeable and obvious root.

Foiling allows stylist to separate pieces of hair in a very controlled way to create lightness or darkness in the hair.

These techniques can be used alone or together to create an individualized look for your guest.

Good luck and have fun!
