Treatment

- There is no cure of treatment for Down Syndrome

Cause

- Disease is sex-linked and is more common in boys than girls and is neither recessive of dominant, it occurs when there is a partial of full copy of chromosome 21

Testing & Screening

- There can be screening done during pregnancy known as Diagnostic Test but most tests are done at birth

Symptoms

- Symptoms include: Flattened facial features, small head, short neck, protruding tongue, upward slanting eye, unusually shaped ears, poor muscle tone, broad short hands, short fingers, excessive flexibility, tiny white spots on eye, and short height

Facts

- 5% of Down Syndrome cases come from father, 95% from mother

- As women

get older there

chances of a baby

with Down syndrome increase

- People with Down syndrome have chances of getting other diseases
