Tundra Biome

Humans have impacted the tundra by disturbing habitats and ravaging plants during oil drilling and garbage dumping.

1. Tundra comes from the Fin word tunturia which means "treeless land".
2. There are six weeks of summer in the tundra biome.
3. The tundra has the least human inhabitants of any biome.

Polar Climate
The biodiversity of the tundra biome is the lowest of all land biomes.
The identifying plant species of the tundra biome are mosses, grasses, and lichens.
Plants have adapted to the biome by losing minimal water by having small to no leaves and by being able to grow with shallow roots due to the frozen soil of the tundra.
Animals have adapted to the tundra by hibernation in the frigid winter and migration from the frigid winter of the tundra.
