The brand was created in 1932, by the Charles and Joseph Revson along with chemist CR Lachman. Revlon began with a single product, nail enamel that came in colours other that red which was the most common shade at the time. Revlon launched one of the most talked-about beauty campaigns of all time it was the Fire & Ice lipstick and nail enamel. Revlon took a different approach to their ads by showing an everyday woman she could be just as compelling and glamorous in their everyday life as any starlet on the silver screen. In the 1960s they came out with the "American" look, which meant they went looking for American models for their new products.
In the 1970s revlon showed major support for feminist.
In the 1970s the brand added face and eye makeup to their line. Which made even more people use it. In 1973 the brand announced a revolutionary perfume which is still sought after by women of all ages, for its youthful scent. In the 1980s the brand transitioned from a drug store brand to one of the top mass-market beauty brands. In the 1990s revlon debuted its ColorStay collection. The ColorStay line soon became the #1 long wear brand and has remained that way ever since. In the 2000s renowned makeup artist Gucci Westman joined as Global Artist Director.
In 2011 movie stars Emma Stone and Olivia Wild joined Revlon's team. Revlon is still a top brand, that creates new revolutionary products. Revlon has defined the makeup industry forever.
