In all cases, this would have been either:

+2 OR -2 on the exposure scale in camera.

Here are some example pictures taken while on our in-class shooting activity to practice spot metering. I have marked where I took my light meter reading and how I shifted the exposure. The images are converted to black and white to make visualizing the tones easier.
