Explanation
Similar to the 1824 election, the 1828 election resulted in more separation of the North and the South. Adams and Jefferson both ran for president again; however, people in support of Adams, citizens of the North, began to spread rumors and slurs about Jackson's wife, which once again attempted to stop Jackson from becoming the President Although Jackson became president, the sectionalism and controversy increased, which does not promote domestic tranquility of the country.
