Missouri compromise map

The North was free because it consisted of many cities filled with factories that contained many advancements in machinery, not causing any need for slaves. The South on the other hand had many plantations that called for a great amount of labor that the plantation owners would rely on  slaves for. The economy of the South depended on slavery and the North did not, therefore causing a country divided.
