The song, "Soldier" makes me sad when I sing it. I think about the soldiers in the war and how they were

so courageous to risk their lives for their country to help gain its freedom. The tune of the song is so

beautiful yet dark at the same time. The piano at the beginning sounds like someone did die in a war and

their love is grieving for them and thinking about them.

From the Civil War by Ken Burns

Swing low sweat chariot was a work song for African American slaves talking about how the

"chariot" God or a literal chariot would carry them out of slavery. When I sing this song I kinda

feel depressed when remembering the slaves but also hopeful and happy at the same time. Some

challenges that I have faced in singing this song are getting to some of the low notes, being round,

and trying to sing louder while maintaining a round low sound.
