We had a great opportunity to work with guest conductor, Dr. Buddy James from CSU Eastbay. Dr. James worked with us on the majority of our spring concert music we have prepared for today’s performance. With his help, he has helped prepare us to be the best we can be and create music. From phrasing to diction to expression.
Not only did we do a ton of singing, we also got the chance to build relationships with one another and talk to people we may not have spent much time with. We had activities around the camp such as, ziplining, archery, and hiking. In addition, we had nightly group bonding with campfires and s'mores, group karaoke, ice cream sundaes, and movie night!
I loved choir the day I walked into class my freshmen year. The time we spent at the retreat was phenomenal and created memories and music that will last a lifetime. I wouldn’t ask for anything else.
Paly Choirs’ Rehearsal Retreat
In the beginning of Spring, Paly Choirs went on a retreat to YMCA Jones Gulch in the beautiful Santa Cruz mountains. It made for a perfect setting to dive into our spring concert music! During our time there, we grew as a choir in all sorts of ways. Two major ways we saw improvement was in our musicianship and community building.
