During the Depression

- Many ate at soup kitchens everyday, and tried to find work, many were unsuccessful

- After the stock market crash many civilians lost their jobs and their homes

- Lots of families lost their homes to the bank and lived in Hoover Villes (named after President Hoover)

- The presidents at the time were: Herbert Hoover, and Franklin Roosevelt
