Bell schedules, budget, and construction, oh my! As we head into the fourth quarter, we’re busy making plans for the 2017-2018 school year. Where did the year go?!

Our Bell Schedule Review Committee has been working hard collecting input and data to make an informed recommendation regarding how we structure our school day. For more details, visit our page http://paly.net/bell-schedule-review-committee

We are building next year’s master schedule. This work includes hiring teachers to fill vacancies and/or areas of enrollment growth accordingly. As of today, we need to hire additional English teachers and a new Chinese Mandarin teacher.

Plans are underway for the opening of the Peery Center. Starting in May, we’ll begin moving our PE department out of the 700 building and into their home. In early June, construction fences will go up around the library as the renovation project begins. This is a 12-18 month interior renovation that will modernize and update the current library space. Before this work begins, we will be relocating the English department offices, the World Language department offices and classrooms, and moving a number of people and programs into new homes. A temporary library will be planned using the Student Center and nearby portables. Don’t worry, we’ll send you an updated campus map in August right before school starts!

Speaking of August, we know the first day of school is currently scheduled for Monday, August 14th. Please mark your calendars. Freshman Link Crew Orientation will take place on Thursday, August 10th from 4-7pm and Picture Day/Chromebook pick-up will take place on Friday, August 11th.
