Chapter 6
We found out that gatsby lied about his life story. In reality he use to live in a boat house and he would continually go up and down the Long Island shore. Gatsby was really from North Dakota his legal name was James Gatsby but he changed it when he was 17 years old to jay gatsby. Gatsby was a poor young man that was looking for a job. Gatsby parents were farmers. He had created a fake life story to tell people. He did not attend oxford he actually went to st. Olaf college in southern Minnesota. He was a janitor. Dan Cody took in James gatsby and they both sailed off together. 3 years later dan Cody died. Gatsby inherited money from dan Cody. Later on gatsby invited tom daisy for supper because gatsby wanted to get to know tom better. Gatsby and daisy danced. Daisy was surprised to see that he knew how to fox-trot. Tom left the table where daisy and gatsby where eating to go sit else were. Daily got bothered by it and told tom if he wanted to write down any addresses she would give him her little gold pencil. Later on in the chapter gatsby tells daisy about their past.
" why don't you ---- why don't you stay for supper?"
This quote ties into chapter 6's summary because it basically explains how gatsby invented daisy and tom over for dinner at his party just to get to know tom better and to spend more time with Daisy's
