Many states also instituted Jim Crowe laws in which African American citizens were treated as second class citizens. Public services and buildings were often in two different forms one for white people and one for colored people. The utilities and services designated for colored people were often of a poor quality and we're not equally funded or supported as it's white counterpart. Things that were segregated included living communities, stores, restaurants, waiting rooms, water fountains, and so on.
