Lawrence Sullivan:

1. He fought in wars and went to a couple of colleges.

2. Was the 19th Governor of Texas, a Confederate States Army general during the Civil War, and a president of the Agricultural and Mechanical College of Texas, which is now called Texas A&M University.

3. Brave- rescued Cynthia Ann Parker who was captured by Comanches.
Experienced- fought in over 135 battles and became an army general.

4. During his two terms, he oversaw the dedication of the new Texas State Capitol, resolved the Jaybird-Woodpecker War, and became the only Texas governor to call a special session to deal with a treasury surplus.

John Nance Garner:

1. He went to law school.

2. Was a state representative from 1898 to 1902, and a U.S. Representative from 1903 to 1933. He was the 44th Speaker of the House in 1931–1933. Was elected the 32nd Vice President of the United States in 1932, and served from 1933 to 1941.

3. Bold- stood up for what he believd in and opposed it even though the president opposed it.
Honest- was a judge for a while and was Vice President.

4. He kept a lot of bills from being put into action during his time as Vice President.

James A. Baker III:

1. Was in the USMC and went to law school.

2. Served as the Chief of Staff in President Ronald Reagan's first administration and in the final year of the administration of President George H. W. Bush. Baker also served as Secretary of the Treasury from 1985 to 1988 in the second Reagan administration, and Secretary of State in the George H. W. Bush administration. He is also the honorary chair of the James A. Baker III Institute for Public Policy at Rice University in Houston, Texas.

3. Brave- served in the United States Marine Corps as First lieutenant.
Loyal- stood by his beliefs even when they were trying to get rid of him.

4. Helped to construct the 34-nation alliance that fought alongside the United States in the Gulf War.

Barbara Jordon:

1. She became involved in politics when she started registering black voters for the 1960 campaign

2. Barbara also ran twice for state Senate, though unsuccessful, in the early 1960s

3. In 1967 a boost in black voters landed her a spot on the Texas Senate, making her the first black senator since 1883

4. She was wonderful with public speaking and created a well remembered speech during the Watergate Hearing



4. Rayburn was a participant in the passage of

Raul A. Gonzales Jr. :

1. Grew up working in the fields which taught him strong work ethic.

2. He was the first Hispanic member of the Texas Supreme Court.

3. He became involved with the Texas Young Democrats and participated in the civil rights struggle.

4. He worked as a Houston assistant city attorney.
