Fifth Station: Simon Helps Jesus Carry His Cross

Jesus is making slow progress. The Roman soldiers are impatient and grabs someone out from the crowd to help Jesus. By chance, he picks Simon of Cyrene. Dazed and confused, he complies with what is ordered of him. Oh, how I envy Simon. He is able to physically help Jesus. he can take off some of the burden. All I can do is watch Jesus suffer. All I can do is pity him.

Jesus looks up at Simon. He seems extremely grateful. He tries to communicate that through his eyes. Simon receives the message and smiles tightly. They continue down the path.
