Edith Cowan was very passionate about free education, she supported state schooling, and sex education. In 1906 Edith became a foundation member of the children protection society, who established the Children's Court in 1907. In 1915 she was the first woman to be be appointed to the bench at the Children's Court to represent the concern of women to government which lead to the opening of the King Edward Memorial Hospital in 1916. Edith was a tireless worker, for rights of women she advocated, equal citizenship and fought to establish child care centers for mother who want to work.
