The Lonely Man
by Clark Hulings

Loneliness

Describe
- lone figure
-dull, monochromatic color
-edge and actual line
-converging parallels
-high and low key tones
- organic shape
-depth of space

Analyze
- the figure is standing all by himself
-the figure is caring some kind of sack as if he's traveling or homeless
-the converging parallels and the curvature of the street suggest that he is walking along the side of a mountain or a hill. Or maybe just at a higher elevation.
-the sunlight brightens the are where the figure stands bringing emphasis to it

Interpret
I think that the one figure waling alone a path is a common symbol for loneliness. This symbol is used very well in this painting and also uses a beautiful landscape in the background to create an overall pleasant and content feeling piece of artwork.
