Happiness

Joep Buijs 2010

Happiness

Interpret
I think that Joep Buijs was trying to display the most pure form of the emotion, happiness, by using a child. He chose to use what can arguable be called happy colors and brought emphasis to the things he made darker such as the boys eyes and mouth.

Analyze
- implied lines alone with color make the painting active and joyous
-angle of the arms point to the smiling face of the boy
- white teeth draw you to smile where the main theme of the painting can be found
- repeating curls make up hair and add to a carefree and happy feeling

Describe
-lots of primary color
-implied and edge lines
-the lines are of higher value
-shape of a boy, organic
-the implied lines give it texture
