The abolition and emancipation reform took place in the 1830's. Abolition, the call to get rid of slavery, was spread by preachers who termed slavery as "a great national sin." William Lloyd Garrison started a paper explaining emancipation, the freeing of slaves with no payment to slaveholders. An antis lave newspaper named "The North Star" was created to help move along the abolition process of slavery. William Lloyd Garrison, David Walker, and Frederick Douglass were all a bug part of the abolition and emancipation reform.
