My ancestor, Michael Matter, and a group of Prussian dissenters moved to Wisconsin and started the first Lutheran church there.

My earliest recorded relatives lived in Prussia, they left to go to America because King Wilhelm III combined the Lutheran churches with the other reformed churches and they wanted to keep their religion.
