Real life slope examples

The slope of the roof is the rise over the run. The first roof rises 4 inches for every 12 inches so the slope is 4/12

The second roof rises 8 inches for every 12 inches. Therefor the slope is 8/12

The third roof has a slope of 12/12. This means it rises 12 inches for every 12 inches. Since 12/12 is equal to 1 whole, you could say that the slope of the roof is 1.
