Spain declares war on Britain

* King Charles III did not consent with the treaty of alliance with the U.S.

*Spain entered the war as an ally with France

*Despite the size of the Franco-Spanish army, Britain was able to hold their own

*Wanted to gain back Gibraltar for Spain and secure Spanish borders in North America
