What is it used for

1. Iridium can be used to make crucibles, or containers to subject substances to extreme temperatures.
2. Iridium can also form with osmium to create osmiridium, an alloy.
3. Electrical contacts are also made from iridium.
4. Even some pen tips are made from it.
5. Finally, iridium can be used to harden platinum.
