The state house

-On July 1st, 1776 the second continental Congress met in the state house.

- On July 2 they voted for independence and 12 colonies voted for independence.

Debate over slavery

- Jefferson had charged King George with violating "sacred rights of life and liberty" of distant people carrying them into slavery.

Independence Day

- They approved the declaration of independence on July 4th.
