The Satch (analysis)

the main character vividly describes his

dreams with the use of figurative concepts. If

you dissect key words in the poem, you'll see

that he dreams of striking someone out in

baseball, as he says "Swing out my long lean

leg And whip three hot strikes burnin' down the

heavens(585)" this indicates that he's a pitcher

in baseball, and is looking forward to the day

he finally strikes somebody out.
