African Americans were unable to vote. Legally, they could vote, but whites made it so they had restrictions.

The whites tried to scare the African Americans. They would mutilate and riddle them with bullets before hanging them.

The NAACP was made in 1909 to abolish segregation and discrimination, to oppose racism and to gain civil rights for African American people.

Everything was separated from blacks and whites. From schools, to drinking fountains.
