Martin Luther
Martin Luther was a priest that thought the sale of indulgences was not something that they should do so instead of fighting with them he decided to make ninety-five theses against why they should not sell indulgences. In result the pope excommunicated luther from the church and he started his own teaching with the protestants now known as Lutherans.
King Henry VIII
King Henry VIII wanted to have a son to take his place in throne but the person he was married to couldn't get pregnant so he divorced her. Then he went to the pope to get permission to marry someone else the pope denied his request so then henry opened a new church called the Church of England or Anglican Church but unlike luther he didn't change the teachings of his church he just created a new one and put himself in charge as pope.
