Callisto is named after the daughter of lyacon. She was seduced by Zeus, known as the roman god Jupiter, and was banned by Artemis. Zeus turned her into a bear. She and the baby became part of the sky as Ursa minor and major.

This moon is one of the only bodies in the sky with the main component being carbon dioxide. It is also referenced as the dead world because of the lack in solar activity.
