What is GBS?
-Group B Streptococcas
-normal type of bacteria that can be found in a pregnant woman's vagina or rectum
-25% of all healthy adult woman have GBS
-screening is done between 35-37 weeks of pregnancy
-results available between 24-48 hours
-for most women there are no symptoms of carrying the GBS bacteria
-mother can pass GBS to her baby during delivery
