SUMARÓKOFF (1718-1777), who wrote a number of tragedies and comedies. He played an important part in the development of the Russian drama. In his tragedies he imitated Racine and Voltaire. He was very found of monologues for his characters. Several of his tragedies were taken from Russian history. He made all of his characters feel very real to the audience which is something they have never experienced before.

The founder of the Society of Art and Literature. He invented a common "blueprint" by havering actors relate to past experiences for achieving deep, and meaningful, performances. Imp known as the "Stanislavki Method" or "The Method" or "Method Acting".
