SUMMARY

Colossians Chapter 1 recognizes Christ's superiority
- Paul starts the chapter by telling the colossians that he had heard of their love for God
- He then dives into the reason for why he is writing this letter, by portraying to them the effects of the Gospel. (The Gospel bears fruit)
- He addresses epaphras, praying that he would be filled with the knowledge of Gods will
- god delivered us from darkness
- jesus is the image of the invisible god and in him we have redemption
- gods word is the mystery hidden for generations but has now been revealed to gods saints
- Therefore the colossians no longer need to live in darkness
