Nobles
- Consisted of lords, knights, and vassals.
- Knights followed a code of conduct called chivalry that required them to be brave, true, and loyal.
- Knights also took a code of loyalty to their lord.
- Lords and vassals controlled land that was given to them from the king.

Monarchs
- Monarchs were kings and queens of a kingdom, and held the highest position in the social hierarchy.
- Kings could be lords, but lords couldn't be kings.
- They believed in divine right of their reign.
