Black is extremely important in this myth because the man that comes to try to kill the older man is dressed in black clothing, and he is "death" so wearing black clothing makes sense. If "death" came wearing pink not black, would not make sense because to me, pink represents pretty, innocent or young. So the man wouldn't be scary which Death is.
