Basic Facts
Where is it located? The light house of Alexandria or the Pharos lighthouse is located in the North-Eastern part of Africa but the North-Western part of Alexandria. When built it was on an island, but now in present day it is connected by a man made rode/peninsula.
When was it built? The lighthouse at Alexandria was built in 290 B.C. It took 20yrs to build. It was finished in 270 B.C being the tallest building in its time with the exception of the grate pyramids.
What is it? The lighthouse at Alexandria is the world first ever lighthouse!
Who built it: Sosrates of Knidos
Why was it built? It was built for the same basic purpose we use our lighthouses today. To help guide the boats to shore.
